Sunday Thoughts: Words For The Season

In 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, we are directed to always be joyful, always be in prayer, and give thanks in everything. During a season when joy and thanks are supposed to be part of our celebration, those traits are frequently lacking. In many ways the only thing present is prayer, because we are praying that we get a good parking space at the store or that a particular gift is on sale. Somehow I think that is not what the Lord had in mind. It’s not that God doesn’t care about the little things in our lives, He is after something deeper.

Here is a practical application of the Scripture. Choose to be joyful; spread the joy to others. Talk to God wherever you are; pray for those around you. Give thanks to God; let your gratitude be known to all.
