This is probably the last email from the Christine O’Donnell campaign this year:
Thank you for making the O’Donnell for U.S. Senate campaign a success. Without your support, participation and prayers we would not have had such tremendous results. Although we did not win the election, we certainly did emerge as winners.
The secret of our success is that we have a group of visionaries and leaders committed to a cause greater than themselves. Our team worked hard and sacrificed beyond expectations and we have the results to show for it!!
1. We never raised more than $100,000 yet we did as well or better then other Delaware statewide candidates who spent more than a million.
2. Our 2008 results show that many Democrats and Independents crossed party lines to intentionally vote Christine O’Donnell for U.S. Senate.
3. We won several districts and had a strong showing in our targeted districts. This shows that given the necessary resources, our team can produce winning results.
4. We engaged new people in the political process. Many who worked on the O’Donnell for U.S. Senate campaign had never been involved in politics. This is wonderful!
As of now, we have no idea who will serve in that U.S. Senate seat. But we do know this … that appointed mystery Senator will have to run in the 2010 general election.
Many have asked if I plan to run against him or her. Well, let’s just say this … save your yard sign!!
With sincere gratitude,
According to the Department of Elections website, she pulled in 35.3% of the vote. Considering she was running against a vp candidate (aka a ghost), it should have been worse. I was disappointed that she lost Sussex County, but that loss was only by 272 votes out of 86,518 cast. Examining the numbers, she didn’t have anything to be ashamed of. I think even her critics would agree.
