WBOC meteorologist Danielle Vollmar came to Laurel on Friday to talk about weather with the students at Dunbar Elementary School. She explained some things about tornadoes and about safety during those storms. She discussed hurricanes, and with pictures she told about her experience chasing one several years ago. She explained some things about her job in addition to teaching the children how to understand a forecast on WBOC.
The students stayed focused on Vollmar’s lesson. It was a special time for them. She told the children that her interest in meteorology came during 8th grade when a local meteorologist visited her school. Maybe some young minds were stirred to do the same.
