The Laurel Chamber of Commerce held its Meet Your Candidates meeting tonight at the Laurel Town Hall. The candidates for the 40th district, Biff Lee and Barb Hudson, gave an opening speech and took questions submitted by those in attendance. It lasted roughly an hour. A healthy-sized crowd was in attendance. I got to meet up with my friends Howard from Delmar Dustpan and Brian from The Mourning Constitution. The original plan was to sit in the back, however because I didn’t sit down right away the best seats were taken. The few seats remaining were in the front row. I grabbed one right next to Pat Murphy from The Laurel Star.
This is going to sound arrogant, but if you’ve read over the series of questions Howard, Paul, and I published, you got the gist of the night. The candidates did touch base on their lack of support for the DSTP, the test students take in public school. They also oppose school district consolidation. Howard pointed out that their positions on many of the issues were similar. These two issues certainly make his case.
If you’d like to look over our questions for the candidates, they are available here, here, and here. Barb Hudson has a campaign website here. Biff Lee told me that he doesn’t have a computer but he does have a web site here. Howard weighed in on the night here. Brian gives his report here.
