The Delaware minimum wage just went up to $7.15 an hour. This means that the prices at your local stores and restaurants will be going up too. Somebody has to pay for the wage increase!

Not necessarily. They may just fire people instead.

  2. True. I’ve got a friend that works for a fast food place. He took note last year the day the minimum wage went up that the menu prices all went up. I guess they figured it was better to keep the employees. I would hate to need to make that kind of decision.

There is no way $7.15 is a liveable wage, at todays heating oil prices an hour of labor would provide enough heating oil at $3.18 a gallon to give you maybe 2 hours of heat in 25 degree weather, not that you could afford a house to live in at that hourly rate.

The cost of a high minimum wage will never be known because you cannot count the jobs NOT created.

Minimum wage should be called entry level wage. I don’t know that there ever was a time when the minimum wage was “liveable”.
