The Wilmington (DE) Republican Region released the results of their latest Presidential poll for the state of Delaware. Here are the results:

Rudy Giuliani 29%
Fred Thompson 17%
Mitt Romney 15%
Mike Huckabee 11%
Ron Paul 9%
John McCain 7%
Newt Gingrich 6%
Duncan Hunter 2%
Alan Keyes 1%
Tom Tancredo <1%

Here is the breakdown by county:

Sussex County
Fred Thompson 26%
Rudy Giuliani 20%
Mitt Romney 12%
John McCain 9%
Ron Paul 6%
Newt Gingrich 6%
Tom Tancredo 1%
Duncan Hunter <1%
Mike Huckabee <1%
Alan Keyes <1%

Kent County
Fred Thompson 24%
Rudy Giuliani 24%
Mitt Romney 18%
Ron Paul 11%
Mike Huckabee 8%
Duncan Hunter 5%
John McCain 3%
Newt Gingrich 3%
Tom Tancredo <1%
Alan Keyes <1%

New Castle County
Rudy Giuliani 34%
Mitt Romney 15%
Fred Thompson 14%
Ron Paul 11%
Mike Huckabee 9%
John McCain 7%
Newt Gingrich 6%
Duncan Hunter 2%
Alan Keyes 1%
Tom Tancredo <1%

Not much has changed regarding the results of this poll. The central and southern counties lean more to the right while the northern county tends to support socially regressive candidates. I disappointed to see my man Mike dropped down so far in the Sussex column. My guess is that some of his supporters did not participate in the poll, seeing as his numbers dropped from 3% to less than 1% in a list of fewer candidates. State-wide, Mike Huckabee’s percentage moved up from 7% to 11% putting him ahead of Ron Paul. Newt is still in the list of candidates even though he announced that he is not running.

Here is some of the remaining information from the email press release:

The Presidential Poll was conducted via e-mail between November 6, 2007 and November 8, 2007 with approximately 500 respondents. The majority of respondents are registered Republicans in Delaware, some Democrats, Independents, and those registered with other parties also participated.

Respondents were given a choice of candidates in alphabetical order. The candidate list includes all registered Republicans who have announced their candidacy for the Presidency as well as those who have formed exploratory committees. Not included were those individuals who have publicly stated they will not run for President in the 2008 election.

There is now a web site available which lists all previous poll results — betterdelaware.com (which doesn’t seem to work, the link in the email takes you to http://betterdelaware.blogspot.com, which is working)

Anyone interested in participating in future polls should send their e-mail address to tomross_de@hotmail.com

Look for the next tracking poll on December 4, with results released December 7.

I want to encourage my readers in Sussex County to sign up for the poll and let your voice be heard.
