In our fine county of Sussex, located in the beautiful southern part of the state, our tax rates are cheap. The rates are low enough it shocked someone at our mortgage company who thought it was a mistake. In Indiana, property taxes have been increased to a rate that has made some irate. An AP story from Tuesday 8/14 tells about a man who paid his property tax bill in coins and $1 bills. For his home, business and rental properties, his half year tax bill was $12,656.07! He chose to pay this way to point out how high the rates were. Read the story here. (hat tip to Relevant Magazine)
