Are Christian T-Shirts OK In Church?
I was reading a post on Outraged Richard on which he commented:
With divorce, gay marriage, teen sex, abortion, pornography, drugs, illegal immigrants, bankrupt governments, bursting prisons, and the wearing of cocktail dresses and logo T-shirts to church becoming the de facto standard of societal behavior, what is worth defending about the U.S.?
Readers, I must confess I’m a “liberal” on the church dress code. My son has worn this shirt to church:
Is this shirt inappropriate for church or a Christian religious service?
(I realize that The Outraged One’s post was not directed at t-shirts. I’m simply taking you down my rabbit trail, my thought pattern, etc.)

Hube tells us about “thought showers“.
Brian talks about his adventures delivering pizzas.
Howard always has interesting posts on local history. This post about the old Benjamin’s Department Store reminds you of the rich treasure of local stores once dominating the our cities and towns.
Oh yeah, Howard found another blogger from his neck of the woods: What A Smell.
Average Girl writes about her gas experiment.
IMAO reports that since this week’s Supreme Court ruling on the Second Amendment guns have been out shooting people.
Paul provides a link to a site where you, yes you, can create your own Obama poster. Some of my ideas:

Most Popular Post Bonus Track
I started to break Kavips‘ rule of simplicity on this post so the shameless extra material is included here like a bonus track on a special edition CD.
The overall popular posts are ones I’d rather not be that popular. Back in the fall I posted several times about the local Bonanzas closing. One night while picking up my son from work, I noticed the Golden Corral was taking coupons issued for the local Bonanzas because it was up on their changeable letter sign. So I posted it along with the other Bonanza stuff. Thus, apparently every time some bargain shopping coupon clipping Golden Corral customer is looking for coupons, they end up here. That’s the second most popular post.
The all-time most popular post is when I first wrote about the television minister Paula White getting divorced. It sparked some comments. It certainly gets more hits than a follow up post I did a bit later on.
Well Kavips, that’s more than what you asked for. Next Friday should be “bonus track” free.
Oh yeah, I shouldn’t forget my lame attempts at doing an “around the horn” posts. Trying to steer clear of photocopying everyone else’s titles, i decided to honor different horns such as the tuba and flugelhorn.
Most Popular Post
Kavips has invited me to post my most popular post.
For the last seven days, the most popular post was my embeded Christine O’Donnell YouTube video, as unoriginal as a post can get here.
Around The Flugelhorn Sunday
Some blogposts of note from around… everywhere.
UPDATE: You should read this with Dan Fogelberg’s song “Longer” playing in the background. I’m told that is a flugelhorn playing the solo.
I like mushrooms in my salad and on my pizza. I would never eat some I just picked out of a field, but Delmar Dustpan reports that a Laurel couple did just that.
Brian is pondering healthy thoughts. He’s adding more water to his diet. It seems that adding more water to my life also makes me feel better, although I prefer that water to come in the form of sweet tea or fresh ground coffee. Can anybody say “amen” to that?
Paul informs his readers about a song first published 100 years ago this week. This was a very popular song, still sung today, whose first line is, “Katie Casey was base ball mad.”
I have judged that Jeff The Baptist’s post on Twisted Verses is worth a read.
Michael took his readers out shopping recently and confirms the pain in our wallets. I’m happy to know that there is someone else that does most of their grocery shopping at Walmart. Out family does venture into Food Lion in Laurel if we need something right away or if it’s on sale. If we are down in Salisbury, we will check on Giant or Superfresh for sale items, particularly boneless chicken and some of that 8 o’clock coffee. Mmm.
Wow, three of these posts were about food. It wasn’t done on purpose, I promise. But, right now I’m thinking about that pot of coffee…
It’s Just Six Words Long
Michael at Monoblogue pulled me into this. It’s all his fault! This is what I am to do:
1. Write a six-word memoir.
2. Post it on your blog (accompanying pics, art, music, etc. optional).
3. Link to the person that tagged you in your post.
4. Tag five more blogs with links.
5. Leave a comment on the tagged blogs with an invitation to engage.
hmm…
Hoping God will say “Well done!” (see Matthew 25:14-30)
To put it simply, I hope that when all is said and done with regard to my life, God will speak over me a word of approval. I realize that the phrase “well done” comes in a parable that is one of the ‘hard ones’, but it doesn’t take away my desire to do what is right.
OK, 1, 2, and 3 are done, so here goes number 4:

Stuff Elbert like… err, likes.
Elbert lives in the thriving metropolis of Laurel, Delaware, with his family. If anyone else posts on this blog, they may or may not live in Laurel. It is up to them where they decide to call home. You will find posts on here about almost anything. For the record, Elbert is politically conservative. His Christian theology is generally conservative, also some would disagree. He hold to the foundations of the faith, and on the theology, he is a mash-up of Wesleyan-influenced Pentecostal/Charismatic thought. He’s not “old school” Pentecostal/Charismatic though.
