I’ll be there Saturday morning working at the GOP’s booth. Stop by and say hi!
Are Christian T-Shirts OK In Church?
I was reading a post on Outraged Richard on which he commented:
With divorce, gay marriage, teen sex, abortion, pornography, drugs, illegal immigrants, bankrupt governments, bursting prisons, and the wearing of cocktail dresses and logo T-shirts to church becoming the de facto standard of societal behavior, what is worth defending about the U.S.?
Readers, I must confess I’m a “liberal” on the church dress code. My son has worn this shirt to church:
Is this shirt inappropriate for church or a Christian religious service?
(I realize that The Outraged One’s post was not directed at t-shirts. I’m simply taking you down my rabbit trail, my thought pattern, etc.)

Howard always has interesting posts on local history. This post about the old Benjamin’s Department Store reminds you of the rich treasure of local stores once dominating the our cities and towns.
Oh yeah, Howard found another blogger from his neck of the woods: What A Smell.
Average Girl writes about her gas experiment.
IMAO reports that since this week’s Supreme Court ruling on the Second Amendment guns have been out shooting people.

Elbert Gets A New Outhouse
This Elbert isn’t getting an outhouse. I would probably be getting a visit from Laurel’s code enforcement if I did that. There’s an Elbert in Ohio that got one.
Elbert “Lew” Preston stood his ground against public health officials in Clermont County, OH. They claimed his outhouse wasn’t up to code thus they wanted it removed. This outhouse was build in the 1960’s and had withstood destruction from a tornado. From the article:
Preston, who is slowed by diabetes and has colon problems and pacemaker, said he never saw the need to replace the old outhouse — which once was picked up and carried into his garden by a tornado without major damage.
“I moved it back and it was as good as new,” he said. “I figured it would last me for the rest of my days.”
A non-profit group called People Working Cooperatively built Preston a new outhouse, placing it overtop a one thousand gallon tank. More than likely this will last Preston a while.
One of his reasons for keeping a outhouse is the expense of installing a septic system. In addition to that:
…he’s used an outside toilet since settling in Washington Township 40 years ago and likes the privacy of a privy.
“When you’re in a house, sounds carry,” Preston said. “Everybody knows your business.”
Elbert Preston is keeping his business to himself. He is one cool Elbert.
The story is here.

Stuff Elbert like… err, likes.
Elbert lives in the thriving metropolis of Laurel, Delaware, with his family. If anyone else posts on this blog, they may or may not live in Laurel. It is up to them where they decide to call home. You will find posts on here about almost anything. For the record, Elbert is politically conservative. His Christian theology is generally conservative, also some would disagree. He hold to the foundations of the faith, and on the theology, he is a mash-up of Wesleyan-influenced Pentecostal/Charismatic thought. He’s not “old school” Pentecostal/Charismatic though.
