Laurel High School Performing Arts Presents “Hairspray”

Press release:

Laurel High School’s Performing Arts Department is proud to announce their 2011 musical production – “Hairspray.” Come support the students who have worked hard for the past three months to put on a quality production for their community. Seasoned performers, Tommy Abrams, Brooke Brittingham, Collin Butterworth, Carrie Gambrill, Patrice Holden, Taylor Johnson, Emily Lance, Domyno-Autumn
Lecates, Brandon Niblett, Caitlin Stokes, John Dillon Travis, Liz Waite and C.J. Wilkerson return to dazzle their audience in musical numbers such as “Good Morning Baltimore,” “Welcome to the Sixties,” “I Know Where I’ve Been,” and “You Can’t Stop the Beat.” Debut performers Matt Duryea, Carol Elliott, Nikea Griffin, James Hansen, Alexis Hunt, Dana Marshall, Aaliyah McCoy, Amanda
McGarvey, Bryan Mills, Ja’vona Mitchell, Kaleb Scott, Matt Trivits and Cameron Wilson are eager to leave a lasting impression as they round out this year’s exceptional cast. Of course, this production would not be possible without the hard working stage, sound and lighting crew – Jake Bradley, Kat Duryea, Matthew Duryea, Gregory Hare, Bradley Hastings, Trey Lord, Erin Reynolds, and Matt Trivits.

The students and staff would like to thank Mr. Brad Temple and his agricultural structures class for their help with set construction, Bonnie Elliott for her help with advertising and public relations, as well as Bob and Peggy Pierce for their swing-dance instruction and guidance. They would also like to thank the Laurel School District and its representatives, the Laurel School Board, parents, guardians, family, and friends for all their help and support. Without their dedication to the arts, “Hairspray” would not be possible.
