Gas Tax Holiday Continues To Be Discussed
The idea about a gas tax holiday is still being discussed. The current three front runners in the Presidential race have all taken a stance on the issue: McCain (RINO) supports it; Clinton (D) supports the idea if the tax burden is shifted to oil companies; Obama (D) says it is a gimmick. I think it’s a good idea. Any tax relief is a good idea.
Clinton’s proposal is stupid. Have the holiday, and the government will create a new tax and stick it on the oil companies. How will oil companies pay for the new tax? They will raise prices. So the break you’ll get from federal tax relief will be taken up in the wholesale price increase. I can’t believe that someone on her staff doesn’t have a clue how to run a business.
One must remember that the Dark Side loves to tax. You can’t stop taxing. The rite of taxing is part of their religion or something.
Fox News discusses some bipartisan support and opposition in this article. I have two posts on this here and here.
Town of Laurel Cleanup Week
Starting Monday May 5th and running through Saturday May 10, 2008, the Town of Laurel will be holding a cleanup week for town residents. The hours of operations are 10am to 7pm during the week and 8:30am to 3:300pm on Saturday. Residents are required to bring their garbage and waste to the dumpster locations and are responsible for unloading their waste into the dumpsters. Town staff will be available to assist those who need assistance with unloading waste.
Dumpsters will be located across from town hall in the municipal parking lot located on Poplar Street.
Items that will not be collected are the following: hazardous materials, fuel, gas, oil, paint, and computers. In order to dump the waste, residents are required to bring picture ID AND utility bill showing your registered address.
Shameless Plug #2
There are a couple of things to share with you all. First, I am selling a printer on eBay. This is an office printer, Xerox Phaser 8860 Solid Ink Printer. The link to the auction is here. It ends on Wednesday.
In addition, I am looking for a part time job, some evening or weekend technology work. Any leads or ideas are appreciated.
And now back to your regularly scheduled blog…
